Jobs on Campus
We offer students the opportunity to work on campus for the University.
What is ‘Jobs On Campus’?
Newcastle University offers students the opportunity to work on campus in a variety of different roles. Some of this on campus work is managed by the JobsOC team in the Careers Service.
The JobsOC team advertise available work assignments to a pool of student workers via a Teams site, with information about the role, working hours and skills needed. The amount of work you are offered will vary depending on the type of work you are looking for, the amount of free time you have during the week and how successful you are when you apply.
Types of jobs
There are a wide range of roles including administration, customer service, library assistance, catering and event support.
The Jobs On Campus Example Work Assignments (PDF:270KB) document details the types of roles available.
Benefits of taking part
- flexible work to fit around your studies
- develop graduate skills including communication, teamwork, planning and organising
- use your work with JobsOC to work towards the ncl+ award
Pay Levels
Jobs On Campus roles are paid in line with Newcastle University student casual pay rates. See Pay and Conditions for the latest rates. Newcastle University is a Real Living Wage employer. This commitment is reflected in the rates of pay for all on-campus student workers.
Students claim online for work undertaken via the My Working Hours app. This is then checked by a member of staff. Payment is made monthly in arrears and is paid directly into your bank account on the last working day of each month.

How to join
You can join the Jobs on Campus Teams site here. The site is where we advertise on campus work assignments and share useful updates and information about working on campus.
If you secure a role, you'll then receive an invite to complete a right to work check. You won't be able to start work without this.
