Alongside support from external practices and trusts we are able to offer a variety of bursaries to help finance your studies.
British Chamber of Commerce Scholarship
The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), in partnership with the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), are offering one scholarship award for a student studying the MSc Urban Planning programme at Newcastle University.
The Scholarship is sponsored by the BCC Skills Fund and is available for a person who is considered a Home Student (for fees purposes) and whose intention is to work in a UK local authority after completing their studies.
The successful applicant will study the MSc Urban Planning full-time, commencing in September 2026.
The student on the scheme will receive a £5,000 contribution towards the tuition fees for their one-year postgraduate study.
Candidates must also meet at least one of the following criteria:
- be in financial need as assessed by the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape
- be from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background
- be from a Gypsy, Roma or Traveller community
- have a disability
- be a care leaver
- have care responsibilities
- be first generation in family to attend university at postgraduate level
How to apply
To be eligible for the Scholarship, students should apply to study Urban Planning MSc at Newcastle following the usual application process.
Following receipt of an offer to study Urban Planning at Newcastle University, students should complete the online application form by midday Tuesday 30th June 2026.

The Hilary Taylor Scholarship
The School of Architecture, Planning & Landscape is offering two scholarships of £2,500, one for each stage of the Master of Architecture (5843F) programme.
The Hilary Taylor Scholarship is for individuals who legally identify as female and are in need of financial assistance. Hilary believed no one should have to give up on their dreams of university study because of the financial cost. Hilary spent seven years learning her craft at Newcastle and was fiercely passionate about helping young females into the industry.
The Scholarship is now accepting applications for 2026 entry.
The deadline is Wednesday 22 July 2026.

Humanities and Social Sciences Postgraduate Scholarships
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Newcastle University is pleased to offer Humanities and Social Sciences Postgraduate scholarships to assist non-UK European Union nationals to study a postgraduate Master’s degree.
Each scholarship has a value of £2000. Eligible candidates will automatically be considered for a Humanities and Social Sciences Postgraduate Scholarship as part of their academic course application.
