Your guide to moving out of University accommodation

Move-out day is approaching. In this guide, we cover essential checkout steps, from packing strategically to final inspections, helping you leave your student accommodation smoothly and positively.

The final countdown is on…

Yep, it’s nearly time. Suitcases are coming out, cupboards are looking suspiciously empty, and move-out day is just around the corner. Here’s your friendly guide to wrapping things up the right way (with minimal stress and maximum good vibes).

Clean & clear your social spaces

We hopefully encouraged you in Part 1 to start these conversations early—but if not, now’s the time!

Make sure you:

  • remove all your belongings from communal areas and your bedroom
  • do your part when it comes to cleaning

Don’t forget, ReHome bins, food donation points, and bin store info are still available to help you out in these final weeks. A little effort now makes a big difference for everyone.

Lock up before you leave

It might sound obvious, but it’s super important — lock your windows and doors when you head out.

We want your room left exactly as you found it… not with any unexpected extra guests

Update your address

Before you go, make sure you’ve changed your address for any parcels or letters.

Once you’ve checked out, reception won’t be able to accept deliveries—so save yourself the hassle (and the mystery of missing mail) by updating your details in advance.

Returning your keys

You should have received your check-out envelope in your communal area during the final round of kitchen checks. If you didn’t get one, don’t worry—you can pick one up from reception.

Simply work your way through the checklist, then pop your key inside when it’s time to leave:

  • during office hours: drop it off at reception
  • out of hours: use the drop box

Quick, easy, done.

Living With Us survey

We really want to hear about your experience!

Your feedback helps improve things for future students, so take a few minutes to fill in the Living With Us survey and let us know how it’s been—what you loved, what could be better, all of it.

One last thing

If you need anything before you leave, we’re here—just reach out.

Otherwise, have an amazing summer, take a well-earned break, and go smash the rest of your university journey. You’ve got this.
