Dr Emma Haagensen BSc (Hons), MRes, PhD, SFHEA
Emma is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Director for the Faculty of Medical Sciences. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Emma holds key leadership roles within the MBBS (Medicine) programme. She is Deputy Year 1 Lead, leads EDI for the MBBS programme, and co‑leads Case 5 within the MBBS curriculum. She undertakes and leads education‑focused research in EDI and belonging within medical education.
At faculty level, Emma leads EDI across the Faculty of Medical Sciences, coordinating activity through the Athena Swan Award and the Faculty Equality Project Action Plan. She chairs the Faculty EDI Committee and represents the Faculty on University‑level EDI groups, including the Gender Equality Group, Race Equality Group and Changing the Culture Group. Emma also represents EDI on the Faculty Executive Board, Faculty Education Committee and Faculty Infrastructure Group.
